The Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) is pleased to announce\u00a0 that a memorandum of understanding between the Government of Grenada and Royal\u00a0 Caribbean Group has been signed today bringing the cruise company and the Government of\u00a0 Grenada together to create employment opportunities for Grenadians. This includes hosting a\u00a0 large-scale job recruitment drive. The memorandum was signed by the Minister for Tourism,\u00a0 Civil Aviation, Climate Resilience and the Environment Hon. Dr. Clarice Modeste-Curwen and\u00a0 Ms.\u00a0Wendy McDonald, Regional Vice President \u2013 Government Relations, Caribbean, of the\u00a0\u00a0Royal Caribbean Group.<\/p>\n
This partnership supports expanding employment opportunities for qualified Grenadians to work\u00a0 on cruise ships operated by Royal Caribbean Group, as the company seeks to generate\u00a0 opportunities for employing a high-quality workforce from the Caribbean region.<\/p>\n
The Government of Grenada is committed to working with Royal Caribbean Group to help\u00a0 promote and host official recruitment events, the first of which ran from May 9 \u2013 11, 2022 and\u00a0 will continue with a second job fair in Grenada from\u00a0July 12\u00a0\u2013\u00a014, 2022. Onsite support and\u00a0 guidance will be provided to ensure a secure and streamlined process.<\/p>\n
Minister Modeste-Curwen stated that, \u201cOur main priority is to ensure that Grenadians can\u00a0 secure job opportunities on board the ships to gain valuable experience, receive training under\u00a0 the best tutelage and hone their skills.\u00a0The Government of Grenada is committed to providing\u00a0 assistance and cooperation on an ongoing basis to this end, to include assisting with the\u00a0 processing of documentation required to recruit and embark the seafarers.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Minister continued, \u201cRoyal Caribbean Group in return commits to using all reasonable\u00a0 efforts to recruit the seafarers by hiring directly or engaging with local hiring partners. This is a\u00a0 wonderful opportunity that job-ready Grenadians should take advantage of.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThis job recruitment effort creates a special opportunity to expand Royal Caribbean\u00a0 Group\u2019s relationship with Grenada,\u201d said McDonald. \u201cWe are happy that the Government of\u00a0 Grenada will give us this avenue to build on the talented pool of seafarers from the Caribbean\u00a0 to help us continue providing our guests with vacation memories that last a lifetime.\u201d<\/p>\n
