On Friday, July 1, U.S. Ambassador to Grenada Linda Taglialatela hosted a\u00a0 reception at Pier 57 in Grand Mal, St. George\u2019s to commemorate the 246th\u00a0Anniversary of the Independence of the United States and to bid farewell to\u00a0 Principal Officer to Grenada Karl Duckworth and his family.<\/p>\n
In her speech, Ambassador Taglialatela commented on the continuing effects of\u00a0 the pandemic and the war in Europe. \u201cGrenada and the United States have stood\u00a0 together during these crises, recognizing the dignity of the human person and the\u00a0 birthright of everyone to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We must\u00a0 continue to stand together \u2013 for the health of our people and the health of an\u00a0 international system that stands up to unprovoked aggression,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Duckworth in his farewell remarks said that \u201cleading our Embassy and engaging\u00a0 the Grenadian people and the Grenadian government has been the biggest honor\u00a0 of my career. I cannot fully express how grateful I am to everyone who has worked\u00a0 together to strengthen the ties between the United States and Grenada in areas\u00a0 ranging from education and exchanges to health, the environment, and law\u00a0 enforcement. As I look back over these past three years, my family and I will take\u00a0 a piece of Grenada with us for the rest of our lives.\u201d<\/p>\n
Governor General of Grenada Dame Cecile La Grenade,\u00a0<\/i>newly elected Prime\u00a0 Minister of Grenada Dickon Mitchell, and members of the current and previous\u00a0 governments were among the
