About thirty-five Climate Resilience and Environment\u00a0Ministers from across the globe are meeting in Berlin, Germany at the Petersburg Climate\u00a0Dialogue (PCD).<\/p>\n
The 13th\u00a0Petersberg Climate Dialogue is hosted by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the\u00a0Federal Republic of Germany and the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of\u00a0Egypt, in his capacity as the President-Designate of the 27th\u00a0Conference of Parties\u00a0(COP27) Meeting scheduled for November 2022.<\/p>\n
The dialogue will offer an opportunity for high level engagement to advance discussions\u00a0on acceleration of global ambition in pursuing a shift towards renewable energy and\u00a0carbon capture and storage.<\/p>\n
Topics include advancing action under adaptation; addressing key aspects of the loss\u00a0and damage mechanism and accelerating national mitigation action. The convention\u2019s\u00a0current financial flows fall short of what is needed to achieve agreed climate goals for\u00a0both adaptation and mitigation actions.<\/p>\n
Grenada\u2019s team will assiduously seek to strengthen partnerships for resource\u00a0mobilization including climate finance, technology access and transfer and capacity\u00a0building.<\/p>\n
The Petersberg Climate Dialogue offers an opportunity for countries to prepare for the\u00a0series of negotiations that are part of the annual Conference of Parties on climate change.<\/p>\n
The focus of COP27 has been aptly identified as \u201cimplementation\u201d of the Paris Agreement\u00a0and this has taken on new significance as this year, 2022, is the 30th\u00a0anniversary of the\u00a0climate convention.<\/p>\n
This current decade is critical as the growing adverse impacts associated with climate\u00a0change across sectors and regions demand the need for scaling up of all actions and\u00a0ambitions that can transform commitments and pledges into concrete contributions in\u00a0response to the climate crisis.<\/p>\n
