A number of teachers and district IT officers in\u00a0 Grenada have been exposed to training in Augmented Reality as part of efforts to improve their\u00a0capacity in\u00a0 technology integration in the OECS education system.<\/p>\n
The training, which was facilitated by the\u00a0Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports, and Culture, in\u00a0 collaboration with the OECS Digital Education Capacity Strengthening Initiative (DECI), was held at PB\u2019s\u00a0 Enterprise, Grenville, St. Andrew on March 20 and 21.<\/p>\n
Facilitator, Kendell Daniel, CEO and co-founder of E-Learning Kings, says an advantage of augmented\u00a0 reality is that it allows one to replace physical objects with 3-D objects. \u201cOur hope is that teachers would\u00a0 be able to use more of the modern technology that is available, such as AR, and the district IT officers \u2013 they would be in charge of continuous training of the different teachers throughout Grenada, Carriacou and\u00a0 Petite Martinique,\u201d Daniel said.<\/p>\n
DECI Focal Point Kwame Hypolite is satisfied with what the workshop has accomplished.\u00a0\u201cThe level of\u00a0 engagement by the participants\u2026it just augers well for what is to come in the pilot phase of this\u00a0 programme.\u201d<\/p>\n
Some of the participating teachers and district IT officers say they feel empowered following the session,\u00a0 and are eager to take wat they have learnt back to the classroom.<\/p>\n
As part of this initiative, the St. Mary\u2019s Catholic School, which is the pilot school in the project, will receive a set of 20 tablets and cases, for the benefit of students in Grades K-3, within the pilot.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
