The Ministry of Health, Wellness, and Religious Affairs welcomes its most\u00a0 recent collaboration with Grenada Electricity Services Ltd. (Grenlec), which has provided a\u00a0 grant for the purchase of furniture and appliance to improve the quality of life of residents,\u00a0 and the level of care delivered by the staff at the Mt. Gay Psychiatric Hospital.<\/p>\n

Having declared 2023 the year of \u201cMental Health and Wellness\u201d, the Ministry continues to increase its focus on improving the delivery of holistic health services to all citizens.<\/p>\n

Permanent Secretary with Responsibility for the Strategic and Operational Management of\u00a0 the General and Subsidiary Hospitals, Mt. Gay Psychiatric Hospital, Richmond Home, and\u00a0 the Community Health Services, Mrs. Naomi Jeremiah, recognised the importance of the\u00a0 Ministry\u2019s partnership with Grenlec and thanked them for their continued support.<\/div>\n

Mrs. Jeremiah also confirmed that the recent grant facilitated the purchase of over $35,000\u00a0 dollars\u2019 worth of furniture and equipment through the Company\u2019s Community Partnership\u00a0 Initiative (GCPI).<\/p>\n

Mrs. Annmarie Duncan-Mason, acting Hospital Services Administrator at the Mt. Gay\u00a0 Hospital, confirmed that the items are already in use and have enhanced the level of comfort\u00a0 and care of its clients.<\/p>\n

Reiterating Grenlec\u2019s ethos of service to community, Prudence Greenidge, Corporate\u00a0 Communications Manager, praised the Ministry\u2019s current focus on mental health and\u00a0 wellness, and extended special thanks to healthcare workers for their service and sacrifice.<\/div>\n

<\/ins><\/div>\n

The Mt. Gay facility currently houses 129 clients: 88 men and 31 women between the ages\u00a0 19-70. The Princess Alice Hospital, Richmond Home and the General Hospital, and other\u00a0 Ministry of Health institutions, have also benefited significantly from the GPCI.<\/p>\n
