{"id":11632,"date":"2023-07-31T16:45:37","date_gmt":"2023-07-31T20:45:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/drealfmgrenada.com\/?p=11632"},"modified":"2023-07-31T16:45:37","modified_gmt":"2023-07-31T20:45:37","slug":"grenada-places-second-in-oecs-invitational-boxing-st-lucia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/drealfmgrenada.com\/index.php\/2023\/07\/31\/grenada-places-second-in-oecs-invitational-boxing-st-lucia\/","title":{"rendered":"Grenada Places Second In OECS Invitational Boxing St. Lucia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Grenadian boxers punched their way to ten medals; two gold, six silver,\u00a0and two bronze, as the Spice Isle took second place at the OECS Invitational Boxing\u00a0\u00a0Championships held in St Lucia over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The hosts topped the standings with 38 points, followed by Grenada (20), Antigua and Barbuda\u00a0\u00a0(18), Barbados (15), Martinique (11) and Guyana (eight) points.<\/p>\n<p>The event was held on Friday, July 28, and Saturday, July 29, at the Vigie Multi-Purpose\u00a0\u00a0Sports Complex.<\/p>\n<p>Grenada was represented by ten (10) boxers, which included one female.<\/p>\n<p>They are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Dan Charles\u00a0<\/b>\u2013 Lightweight Novice<\/li>\n<li><b>Vincent Samawano\u00a0<\/b>\u2013 Light Welterweight Novice<\/li>\n<li><b>Allan Charles\u00a0<\/b>\u2013 Light Middleweight Novice<\/li>\n<li><b>Jerron Phillip\u00a0<\/b>\u2013 Middleweight Novice<\/li>\n<li><b>Shakim Cox\u00a0<\/b>\u2013 Middleweight Junior<\/li>\n<li><b>Timothy Stephen\u00a0<\/b>\u2013 Middleweight Elite<\/li>\n<li><b>Jaffer Shade\u00a0<\/b>-Light Heavyweight Novice<\/li>\n<li><b>Jason Mascall\u00a0<\/b>\u2013 Light Heavyweight Elite<\/li>\n<li><b>Shevon Lewis\u00a0<\/b>\u2013 Super heavyweight Elite<\/li>\n<li><b>Nathanielia Stafford\u00a0<\/b>\u2013 Light heavyweight youth female.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The team was accompanied by Coaches Sebastian Stiell and Darren Stefon John who traveled\u00a0\u00a0from the USA, and the other officials were Lyle Bullen, Stefan Sylvester, and Nakitha Noel as\u00a0\u00a0referee and judge. Noel also acted as the attach\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>The lone female boxer representing Grenada, Nathanielia Stafford won gold in the youth light\u00a0\u00a0heavyweight category.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of State responsible for Youth, Sports, and Culture Hon.
