Twenty-seven (27) families in Carriacou will benefit from new houses, thanks to volunteers of a non-profit organization from Trinidad and Tobago.<\/p>\n
Hands that Serve will be constructing prefabricated houses. The fully furnished three-bedroom homes will include bathroom facilities and supplies, as well as beds and stoves.<\/p>\n
Members of the organization paid a preliminary visit to Carriacou, where they looked at various sites as possible locations for the houses.<\/p>\n
Almost 95% of the housing stock on Carriacou and Petite Martinique was destroyed during the passage of Hurricane Beryl.<\/p>\n
Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, Hon. Tevin Andrews; Minister for Mobilisation, Implementation and Transformation, Hon. Andy Williams; and Minister responsible for Housing, Senator the Hon. Gloria Thomas, were part of the sites\u2019 tour by Hands that Serve.<\/p>\n
Minister Thomas expressed appreciation for the assistance as the Government continues to work with local, regional and international organizations to rebuild the twin-isle constituency of Carriacou and Petite Martinique.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
