The training,\u00a0 facilitated with support from USAID\u2019s Youth Resilience, Inclusion, and Empowerment (Y-RIE) Program,\u00a0 was designed to strengthen the capacity of public sector professionals to manage and implement\u00a0 development projects effectively.<\/p>\n<p>The specialized curriculum focused on addressing the challenges which social service providers face in\u00a0 their roles, and provided practical solutions, particularly those aimed at empowering Grenada\u2019s youth. As\u00a0 part of their continued professional development, graduates will engage in a practicum component that\u00a0 involves community outreach in Y-RIE\u2019s focus communities. This practical experience will emphasize\u00a0 promoting positive masculinity and providing psychological first aid to mitigate risk factors affecting youth\u00a0 and preventing youth and community violence.<\/p>\n<p>At the closing ceremony, held at Prickly Bay Marina, Lyndonna Hillaire-Marshall, Acting Cabinet\u00a0 Secretary and Permanent Secretary responsible for Public Administration in the Prime Minister\u2019s Office,\u00a0 highlighted the importance of the graduates applying their newfound skills to the betterment of Grenadian\u00a0 youth. The PS urged graduates to apply their newfound skills to the projects they develop and the work\u00a0 they do, always mindful of the\u00a0<b><i>e<\/i><\/b><i>ssence of their efforts<\/i>, the\u00a0<b><i>r<\/i><\/b><i>ewards<\/i>\u2014often intrinsic\u2014and their\u00a0<b><i>i<\/i><\/b><i>mpact\u00a0<\/i>on\u00a0 the lives of the youth and communities they serve. MOYS Permanent Secretary, Odessa Amada-Sylvester\u00a0 expressed her pleasure at the Ministry\u2019s partnership with the USAID Y-RIE Program for this important\u00a0 training course. She urged staff who benefited to use their skills in developing projects and programs that\u00a0 help the Ministry with its mandate to help the youth of Grenada live positive lives.<\/p>\n<p>Johnny Calliste, USAID Y-RIE Program Manager, shared that capacity-building of youth-serving\u00a0 stakeholders is a key aspect of Y-RIE\u2019s strategic objective to \u201cstrengthen government-provided social\u00a0 services.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Professor Corin Bailey, Director of UWI CCJS, emphasized the pivotal role these newly trained\u00a0 professionals will play in shaping Grenada\u2019s future in his virtual congratulatory message.<\/p>\n<p>MOYS Project Officer, Natasha Simon-Charles, speaking on behalf of the training participants expressed\u00a0 gratitude on behalf of her fellow participants. She reflected on the transformative effect of the training\u00a0 emphasizing that they will use their new skills to design effective activities to help the at-risk youth in\u00a0 Grenada.<\/p>\n<p>USAID Y-RIE was formally launched in Grenada in March 2023. Y-RIE is working with government and\u00a0 non-government partners to strengthen social services that serve youth and their families, improve learning\u00a0 outcomes for youth, improve youth preparedness for the world-of-work, and strengthen the resilience of\u00a0 families and communities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>The United States
