This prestigious position is a testament to Minister James\u2019 expertise\u00a0 and Grenada\u2019s commitment to environmental stewardship on the global stage.<\/p>\n<p>As President of the Bureau, Minister James played a pivotal role in facilitating the critical\u00a0 deliberations and decisions of the Montreal Protocol, and guided efforts to protect and\u00a0 restore the ozone layer through policies on phasing out ozone-depleting substances and\u00a0 advancing energy-efficient, low-global-warming-potential alternatives. She was also responsible for leading meetings, coordinating with the Protocol\u2019s technical and scientific\u00a0 bodies, and fostering consensus among the Protocol\u2019s 198 member states to address\u00a0 evolving challenges related to climate change and ozone depletion.<\/p>\n<p>Minister James\u2019s appointment is historic as it marks a significant milestone for both youth\u00a0 and female representation in global environmental leadership. Her perspective as a young\u00a0 female leader from the Caribbean brings a fresh, inclusive vision to the Protocol\u2019s\u00a0 governance. Her leadership symbolised the critical role young leaders and women play in\u00a0 fostering sustainable and resilient environmental efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Minister James\u2019s presidency also presented a unique opportunity for Grenada. With this new platform, she was in good position to highlight the country\u2019s achievements in\u00a0 implementing Montreal Protocol initiatives, including but not limited to:<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 The establishment of the Caribbean\u2019s first recovery, recycling and reclamation\u00a0 center at the Grenada Solid Waste Management Authority\u2019s Queens Park Facility.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Capacity development and training for more than two hundred (200) Refrigeration\u00a0 and Air conditioning technicians (RAC) technicians.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 T. A. Marryshow Community College Scholarship programme for twenty-four (24)\u00a0 RAC Students.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister\u2019s leadership will also inspire countries worldwide to embrace a\u00a0 transformative approach to sustainable development, climate resilience, and ozone\u00a0 protection. Her tenure as President of the Bureau promises a dynamic period for the\u00a0 Protocol as the global community navigates environmental challenges with a renewed\u00a0 spirit of inclusivity and progress in the implementation of the Kigali Amendment for the\u00a0 phase down of climate warming gases.<\/p>\n<p>Under the leadership of Hon.
