The Division of Youth in the Ministry of Youth and\u00a0 Sports announces the launch of\u00a0\u201cElevate Her\u201d<\/b>, a transformative initiative designed to empower unemployed and underemployed young women in Grenada.<\/p>\n
The Ministry officially commenced registration for the programme in St. George\u2019s this\u00a0 week, with outreach to other parishes soon. Early in the New Year, the programme will\u00a0 be launched in Carriacou to ensure inclusivity and representation across Grenada,\u00a0 Carriacou, and Petite Martinique.<\/p>\n
Objectives of \u201cElevate Her\u201d\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
The \u201cElevate Her\u201d programme is tailored to address the unique challenges faced by\u00a0 young women ages 18-35 by:<\/p>\n
\u2219\u00a0Providing second chance opportunities to females who were unable to complete primary, secondary and\/or tertiary level education.<\/p>\n
\u2219\u00a0Equipping participants with nationally recognised qualifications to meet\u00a0 labour market needs.<\/p>\n
\u2219\u00a0Upskilling and empowering participants by providing mentoring, essential\u00a0 life skills training, business development support, personal and professional\u00a0 development.<\/p>\n
\u2219\u00a0Ensuring participants\u2019 employment by securing job placements or business\u00a0 start-up support.<\/p>\n
\u2219\u00a0Providing a clear and fixed timeline for training, to ensure efficient skill\u00a0 acquisition and entry into the workforce.<\/p>\n
\u201cElevate Her\u201d was born from persistent appeals by young women seeking opportunities\u00a0 for advancement explained, Ms. Carlene Perryman, Coordinator of Youth in the Ministry\u00a0 of Youth and Sports. She stated that\u00a0\u201cThe Division of Youth has listened to the voices of\u00a0 Grenada\u2019s young women. \u2018Elevate Her\u2019 is our response to their call\u2014a programme\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n
specifically designed to prepare them not only for the job market but also for life.\u201d\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n
The \u201cElevate Her\u201d programme is aligned with the Grenada National Sustainable\u00a0 Development Plan (NSDP) 2020-2035, directly supporting its pillars of human capital\u00a0 development and youth employment. The initiative reflects the government\u2019s commitment\u00a0 to providing second-chance opportunities for youth and reducing unemployment,\u00a0 ensuring Grenada\u2019s women are positioned for sustainable livelihoods.<\/p>\n
Young women interested in joining this empowering programme are encouraged to\u00a0 register at designated centres across the nation. The Division of Youth will continue its\u00a0 parish-based registration to ensure accessibility for all eligible participants.<\/p>\n
