Soroptimist International Grenada, in collaboration\u00a0 with The Ministry of Community and Social Development, Housing and Gender Affairs and\u00a0 Cuso International, are proud to announce the successful conclusion of the project\u00a0 \u201cEmpowering Girls in Grenada to Navigate Their Periods with Dignity.\u201d This initiative aimed to\u00a0 provide essential support to young women at the Programme for Adolescent Mothers (PAM) and Grand Anse School for Social Development, ensuring they can manage their menstrual\u00a0 health with dignity and confidence.<\/p>\n
Throughout the project, Dignity Packages were distributed containing vital hygiene products.\u00a0 Each package included sanitary pads, wipes, toothpaste, toothbrushes, body lotion, soap,\u00a0 and deodorant. These items are crucial for promoting health, hygiene, and self-esteem\u00a0 among young girls, allowing them to focus on their education without the worry of\u00a0 inadequate menstrual care.<\/p>\n
The feedback from recipients has been overwhelmingly positive. Many young women\u00a0 expressed their gratitude for the support, highlighting how these resources will help them\u00a0 feel more comfortable and confident during their periods.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis initiative wasn\u2019t just about providing products, it was about ensuring these girls\u00a0 understand that they are equal and capable of achieving their dreams regardless of the\u00a0 challenges they faced,\u201d said Elaine Henry-McQueen, Women\u2019s Rights Advocate.<\/p>\n
