The Ministry of Climate Resilience, the Environment, and Renewable\u00a0 Energy recently hosted a two-day workshop in collaboration with the Caribbean Cooperative MRV\u00a0 Hub (CCMRVH), as part of efforts to strengthen Grenada\u2019s Measurement, Reporting, and Verification\u00a0 (MRV) system.<\/p>\n

It is part of the Grenada government\u2019s commitment under the Enhanced Transparency Framework\u00a0 (ETF) of the Paris Agreement, to ensure that climate actions are effectively tracked and reported. The\u00a0 workshop builds upon the Grenada NDC-P MRV System Development Project, which was launched\u00a0 in May 2024, with support from the NDC Partnership Action Fund.<\/p>\n

Grenada has pledged to reduce national greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030, a goal that requires\u00a0 a reliable and transparent climate data management system. The MRV system will enable more\u00a0 accurate monitoring of emissions, enhance policy decisions, and strengthen the country\u2019s ability to\u00a0 access international climate financing.<\/p>\n

Permanent Secretary Peron Johnson has emphasised the critical role of data-driven decision-making in\u00a0 Grenada\u2019s climate agenda, \u201cAccurate and transparent climate data is essential for shaping effective\u00a0 policies, securing international funding, and ensuring Grenada meets its climate commitments. This\u00a0 workshop is a significant step toward strengthening our national MRV system and fostering\u00a0 collaboration among key stakeholders,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n
