April 15th, 2025 marked the official launch of Elevate\u00a0 Her, a transformative initiative aimed at empowering women and girls through career mentorship,\u00a0 skills training and development, and leadership. The launch event was held at the Deluxe Cinema\u00a0 in St Andrew, drawing a full house of participants, supporters, dignitaries, and community leaders.<\/p>\n
The Elevate Her programme, designed to foster personal and professional growth among young\u00a0 women across the tri-island state, is a flagship initiative under the Ministry of Youth and Sports.\u00a0 It will equip participants with the tools and support needed while positively boosting their\u00a0 confidence and self-esteem to thrive in various spheres of society.<\/p>\n
The programme will be a blended approach that will integrate life skills, literacy and numeracy,\u00a0 theory and practical elements into the training sessions.<\/p>\n
The event was attended by Acting Prime Minister Hon. Andy Williams, Minister of Youth and\u00a0 Sports Hon. Delma Thomas, Attorney General Hon. Claudette Joseph, Minister for Economic\u00a0 Development Hon. Lennox Andrew, Senator Seville Francis, Senator Quinc Britton, and\u00a0 Permanent Secretary, Ms Kim Frederick.<\/p>\n
The keynote address was delivered by the esteemed guest speaker Annmarie Montrose, who\u00a0 emphasised the need for women to be go-getters. She stated, \u201cThe future is not something we wait\u00a0 for; it is something we build \u2013 together!\u201d<\/p>\n
In her remarks, the Minister of Youth and Sports emphasised the importance of creating spaces\u00a0 where young women can be nurtured, empowered, and celebrated.<\/p>\n
\u201cElevate Her is not about giving a handout; it is about unlocking the power that already exists\u00a0 within our women. It is about ensuring that our girls grow up in a world where leadership,\u00a0 innovation, and education are not just dreams.\u201d<\/p>\n
The minister also stressed that \u201ca strong nation cannot exist when half its population is pushed\u00a0 aside to the sidelines. Elevate Her is about national strength, unity and progress.\u201d<\/p>\n
The first cohort of 200 participants includes unemployed women across Grenada, who will benefit\u00a0 from hands-on training in the agriculture, health, and hospitality sectors for no more than 18\u00a0 months.<\/p>\n
The Government of Grenada is dedicated to empowering young people through innovation and\u00a0 sustainable development with its strong focus on education and skills training. The Elevate Her\u00a0 programme aligns with Vision 75 in realising the full potential of our nation\u2019s citizens.<\/p>\n
