Lauderhill, USA<\/strong> \u2014 Grenada\u2019s Andre Fletcher delivered a blistering performance to close out the 2025 Major League Cricket (MLC) group stage, smashing a scintillating 118 to power the Los Angeles Knight Riders to an 11-run (DLS) victory over the San Francisco Unicorns on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Fletcher’s heroics not only gave his side a morale-boosting second win of the tournament, but also sent shockwaves through the playoff race \u2014 pushing the Unicorns down to third place and into the do-or-die Eliminator.<\/p>\n

Known to many in the Caribbean as the \u201cSpiceman,\u201d the Grenadian star was at his explosive best, belting 118 off just 58 balls in a rain-shortened 19-over innings. His knock was peppered with towering sixes and searing boundaries, much to the delight of fans at Lauderhill \u2014 a venue where his century now stands as part of the highest team total ever recorded there: 243 for 3.<\/p>\n

Fletcher\u2019s innings featured two game-shaping partnerships: a 94-run opening stand with Alex Hales (58 off 26) and a 97-run onslaught alongside Sherfane Rutherford (49 off 28). The Knight Riders surged to 76 runs in the powerplay and never looked back. Fletcher reached his century in grand style, smashing Brody Couch for three sixes and a four in the 18th over before adding two more sixes in the final over. He eventually fell on the last ball, but the damage was well and truly done.<\/p>\n

In reply, the Unicorns put up a fierce chase. Sanjay Krishnamurthi countered with a stunning 92 off 40 balls, threatening to steal the game. However, Jason Holder\u2019s timely breakthrough \u2014 removing Krishnamurthi at the start of the 15th over \u2014 proved pivotal. Despite a late flurry from Xavier Bartlett, the Unicorns fell short at 233.<\/p>\n

Adding to the drama was the absence of Romario Shepherd, who suffered an ankle injury early in the game. The Unicorns missed his finishing power as their innings lost steam in the final overs.<\/p>\n

On debut, Karthik Gattepalli stepped up for the Knight Riders with a standout 3 for 31, including the crucial wickets of Matthew Short and Jake Fraser-McGurk.<\/p>\n

The defeat means San Francisco Unicorns finish third and will now face MI New York in the Eliminator. Washington Freedom and Texas Super Kings top the table and will contest Qualifier 1 for a direct path to the final.<\/p>\n

As for Fletcher, the former West Indies opener may have seen his team bow out of the tournament, but he ensured Grenada’s name rang loud in Lauderhill. With two centuries in the tournament and a playoff-altering final act, Fletcher once again reminded the world of his match-winning ability.<\/p>\n
