The high-level meeting brought together senior officials and diplomats from the People\u2019s\u00a0 Republic of China and the Caribbean to strengthen cooperation and dialogue across multiple\u00a0 sectors.<\/p>\n<p>The consultations were co-chaired by\u00a0<b>Vice Minister Miao Deyu\u00a0<\/b>of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs\u00a0 of the People\u2019s Republic of China and\u00a0<b>Permanent Secretary Roxie McLeish Hutchinson\u00a0<\/b>of the\u00a0 Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Grenada.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening mutually beneficial\u00a0 cooperation in key areas such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Economy and trade<\/li>\n<li>Infrastructure development<\/li>\n<li>Agriculture<\/li>\n<li>Healthcare<\/li>\n<li>Science and technology<\/li>\n<li>Civil aviation<\/li>\n<li>Disaster prevention and mitigation<\/li>\n<li>Green development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>They also agreed to enhance people-to-people ties through increased collaboration between\u00a0 universities, think tanks, and media organisations.<\/p>\n<p>The Caribbean delegation reiterated its support for the\u00a0<b>One-China Principle<\/b>, emphasising the\u00a0 unchallengeable nature of\u00a0<b>United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758<\/b>. Both parties\u00a0 pledged to jointly implement the outcomes of the\u00a0<b>Fourth Ministerial Conference of the China CELAC Forum<\/b>, and to promote the building of a\u00a0<b>China\u2013LAC Community with a Shared\u00a0 Future<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Discussions also focused on global issues, including climate change and the situation in Haiti.\u00a0 Both sides committed to strengthening coordination on multilateral platforms such as the\u00a0<b>United\u00a0 Nations Security Council<\/b>, advocating for the concerns of Small Island Developing States and\u00a0 working toward a fair, inclusive, and sustainable global climate governance system.<\/p>\n<p><b>Participating Caribbean countries included<\/b>: Grenada, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados,\u00a0 Dominica, Jamaica, Guyana, Suriname, The Bahamas, and Trinidad and Tobago.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>Grenada joined eight other Caribbean nations in the 9th Round\u00a0 of China\u2013Caribbean Consultations, held recently at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing,\u00a0 China.
