The Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government is working to enhance the island’s agricultural sector through innovative methods. A new hydroponics system will be introduced to improve crop production.

*Key Developments:*

– *Hydroponics System*: This method allows for efficient water use and increased crop yields, benefiting farmers in water-scarce areas.

– *Shade Houses*: Three shade houses are being constructed at the Belair Nursery, providing a controlled environment for plant growth and protection from harsh weather conditions.

– *Training and Capacity Building*: Workshops on nursery management and agricultural practices will be held to equip farmers with necessary skills.

Minister Hon Tevin Andrews believes these initiatives will help Carriacou and Petite Martinique become more self-sufficient in food production, reducing reliance on external sources and enhancing food security.

These developments are part of the Ministry’s broader efforts to promote sustainable agriculture and support the local farming community in Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
