The Grenada Football Association (GFA) successfully concluded a\u00a0 comprehensive three-day Referee Development Workshop at its FA Secretariat on Thursday,\u00a0 marking a significant step in enhancing refereeing standards across the island. The intensive\u00a0 program is a product of the continued relationship between the Grenada FA and the Mexican\u00a0 FA and was facilitated by former FIFA Assistant Referee, Mayte Ivonne Chavez Garcia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop, which ran from Tuesday to Thursday, was designed to equip Grenadian\u00a0 referees with advanced skills, up-to-date knowledge of the Laws of the Game, and enhanced\u00a0 practical techniques essential for modern football. Participants engaged in a mix of theoretical\u00a0 sessions and practical exercises, focusing on areas such as positioning, offside interpretations,\u00a0 foul recognition, effective communication, and match management.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Carl Lee, GFA General Secretary, expressed his gratitude for the successful execution of the\u00a0 workshop. \u201cInvesting in our referees is paramount to the integrity and growth of football in\u00a0 Grenada,\u201d stated Lee. \u201cThis collaboration with the Mexican FA and the invaluable expertise of\u00a0 Mayte Chavez Garcia have provided our officials with world-class training, which will\u00a0 undoubtedly elevate the standard of officiating in our local leagues and beyond.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sheldon Carmichael, Referee Officer, shared his thoughts. \u201cIt was a privilege to see the\u00a0 dedicated and enthusiastic referees during the three days. Their eagerness to learn and\u00a0 improve bodes well for the future of Grenadian football. We are happy for the support of the\u00a0 GFA in their efforts to foster a culture of excellence in refereeing,\u201d he commented.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The GFA anticipates that the skills and knowledge gained from this workshop will translate\u00a0 into improved match management, fairer play, and a higher overall quality of football matches\u00a0 across all levels of competition in Grenada.
