Grenadian decathlete Lindon Victor has shared an emotional message with fans following his early exit from the men\u2019s decathlon at the World Athletics Championships.<\/p>\n
Victor, who has been battling multiple injuries this season\u2014including broken ribs from a car accident and persistent Achilles pain\u2014was forced to retire during the pole vault after an unsuccessful attempt at 4.50 metres.<\/p>\n
Despite pushing through the earlier events, the two-time Commonwealth Games champion grimaced in pain as his competition came to an abrupt end. In a heartfelt post on Facebook, Victor admitted this was not the outcome he had envisioned: \u201cI thought I would be sharing how proud I was for battling through broken ribs, pushing through Achilles pain all season, and still managing to win a medal.<\/p>\n
But you know what\u2014God is still great. It just wasn\u2019t meant to be this time.\u201d The Grenadian star expressed pride in himself and his team for simply making it to the start line, calling it an achievement in itself given the challenges faced. Known for his resilience, Victor assured supporters that this setback will only fuel his determination: \u201cSetbacks don\u2019t define me\u2014they build me.<\/p>\n
This will only make me a stronger and better athlete. The best is yet to come.\u201d He closed by thanking Grenada for their continued support, even as he apologized for not delivering the medal he had hoped for.<\/p>\n
