Over 190 countries will come\u00a0 together in Panama City to compete in the First Global Robotics Competition, a pioneering\u00a0 international event where students collaborate through science, technology, engineering, and\u00a0 mathematics (STEM) to address urgent environmental challenges and promote a healthier planet.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s competition theme,\u00a0\u201cEco Equilibrium,\u201d\u00a0<\/b>calls on participating teams to innovate\u00a0 collaboratively in ways that maximize biodiversity and protect the incredible variety of life\u00a0 sustaining ecosystems worldwide\u2014from rainforests to coral reefs. The health of humanity and\u00a0 the planet depend on this critical mission.<\/p>\n
Representing Grenada in this global event is\u00a0Team Grenada<\/b>, who have been preparing\u00a0 rigorously since receiving their robotics kits in August. The team has been designing, building,\u00a0 and programming their robot with great enthusiasm and determination. In addition to technical\u00a0 preparations, Team Grenada has actively connected with international peers from countries\u00a0 including Angola, Belize, Belarus, China, Canada, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Gabon,\u00a0 Jamaica, Jordan, Korea, Kosovo, Mexico, Poland, Tunisia, Uganda, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.<\/p>\n
Beyond robotics, Team Grenada has engaged in impactful community activities aimed at raising\u00a0 environmental awareness. These include a beach cleanup at Flamingo Bay, educational sessions\u00a0 for students in Westmoreland during Career Day, fundraising initiatives to help support club\u00a0 activities, participation in a summer short film, and submission of eleven social media challenges\u00a0 focused on sustainability.<\/p>\n
The team will proudly be represented by\u00a0Jada Jacob, Talisha Jessamy, Jesse Logie, Hadassah\u00a0 Roberts, and Jeromy Simson<\/b>, under the mentorship of\u00a0Mr. Clement Commodore and Mrs. Merlisia John<\/b>.<\/p>\n
