The Forum brought together senior representatives from the Caribbean\u00a0 and the Republic of Korea to examine practical cooperation in areas central to ocean governance,\u00a0 maritime resilience, and sustainable blue economy development.<\/p>\n
Ambassador Jerry J. Enoe, Special Envoy for Oceans, delivered Grenada\u2019s statement during\u00a0\u00a0Session 2: Korea\u2013Caribbean Cooperation for a Sustainable Blue Economy<\/b>. In his\u00a0 intervention, Ambassador Enoe outlined Grenada\u2019s national priorities, including the strengthening\u00a0 of ocean data systems, improved climate-smart fisheries management, innovation in marine\u00a0 governance, and enhanced coastal resilience. The intervention emphasized the importance of\u00a0 science-based policy, technology integration, and international partnerships in advancing\u00a0 Grenada\u2019s long-term ocean development agenda.<\/p>\n
During the Forum\u2019s bilateral and technical exchanges, the\u00a0Korea Institute of Ocean Science and\u00a0 Technology (KIOST)\u00a0<\/b>confirmed the availability of\u00a0graduate study opportunities\u00a0<\/b>for\u00a0 professionals from coastal and island states. Through its\u00a0London Protocol Engineering Master of\u00a0 Project Administration (LPEM)\u00a0<\/i>programme, KIOST provides advanced academic and technical\u00a0 training in marine science, coastal engineering, and ocean project administration. These areas of\u00a0 study are highly relevant to the capacity needs of Small Island Developing States, including\u00a0 Grenada, as they strengthen national systems for marine resource management and climate\u00a0 adaptation.<\/p>\n
The Ministry recognizes the value of these academic pathways in supporting Grenada\u2019s ongoing\u00a0 work to build a modern, knowledge-driven blue economy. Expanding national expertise in ocean\u00a0 science and project implementation is essential for improving coastal planning, enhancing\u00a0 resilience, and ensuring sustainable use of marine resources.<\/p>\n
