The Grenada Hotel and Tourism Association (GHTA) successfully convened its 62nd Annual General Meeting under the theme \u201cBuilding Resilience: Sustainable Tourism, Empowered Communities,\u201d bringing together industry stakeholders to reflect on achievements, welcome new leadership, and chart the course for the tourism sector\u2019s continued growth.<\/p>\n
The meeting featured keynote addresses from the Honourable Adrian Thomas, Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Creative Economy and Stacey Liburd, CEO of the Grenada Tourism Authority, who shared valuable insights on the strategic direction of Grenada\u2019s tourism industry and collaborative opportunities for sustainable development.<\/p>\n
\u201cTogether, we\u2019re not just building our industry. We\u2019re building a legacy. We\u2019re empowering communities, and we\u2019re creating a sustainable future,\u201d said Arlene Friday, Chief Executive Officer of the GHTA. \u201cAs we look ahead, our focus remains on strengthening partnerships, enhancing member value, and ensuring that Grenada continues to be recognised as a premier destination in the Caribbean.\u201d<\/p>\n
The AGM marked an important milestone with the election of new board members who will help guide the association\u2019s strategic initiatives. Newly appointed to the board are:<\/p>\n
In a highlight of the day, the GHTA Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) scholarships were presented to Ciara Whiteman and Jaden Dominique by current scholarship recipient Tia Thomas, who inspired attendees with her message to the new recipients. \u201cThis award is not just support \u2014 it is belief,\u201d said Thomas. \u201cThe association, the board, hotel managers, and tour operators are saying, \u2018We see potential in you.\u2019 What you do with that belief matters. Show up prepared. Take responsibility. Take initiative. Use every opportunity to grow \u2014 and never underestimate the impact you can have on your community, your industry, and Grenada\u2019s future.\u201d<\/p>\n
The TEF continues to invest in Grenada\u2019s future tourism professionals, supporting students pursuing careers in hospitality and tourism.<\/p>\n
GHTA President Elvis Lewis issued a call to action, charging members to actively recruit new members to the association. \u201cWe are stronger together,\u201d Lewis emphasised, urging continued unity and collective effort in advancing the interests of Grenada\u2019s tourism industry.<\/p>\n
