The Tourism Division in the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Economy\u00a0 and Culture has commenced its 2026 Immersive Edutainment Tours, continuing its\u00a0 tourism awareness campaign aimed at fostering a deeper appreciation of the sector and\u00a0 highlighting career opportunities among students at primary, secondary, and tertiary\u00a0 levels.<\/p>\n
The first tour for 2026 was held on Friday, February 20, engaging twenty Grade Five and\u00a0 Grade Six students, along with one teacher each from St. George\u2019s Methodist School, St.\u00a0 Louis Girls R.C. School, St. George\u2019s Anglican Senior School, and Uganda Martyrs\u00a0 Catholic School.<\/p>\n
Students were taken on an educational tour of the George Brizan House of Nutmeg and\u00a0 the Tri-Island Chocolate Factory, both located in Beaulieu. The Tri-Island Chocolate\u00a0 Factory is recognised as Grenada\u2019s first open-to-the-public \u201ctree-to-bar\u201d chocolate facility.<\/p>\n
At the George Brizan House of Nutmeg, which is operated by the Grenada Cooperative\u00a0 Nutmeg Association (GCNA), students were exposed to the processes involved in nutmeg\u00a0 cultivation, harvesting, and production, gaining valuable insight into one of Grenada\u2019s key\u00a0 agricultural exports.<\/p>\n
The second edutainment tour is scheduled for Friday, February 27, and will be held at the\u00a0 eighty-room Coyaba Beach Resort in Grand Anse. This tour will engage twenty Form\u00a0 Three students, along with one teacher each from Wesley College, Anglican High School,\u00a0 J.W. Fletcher Catholic Secondary School, and the Grenada Boys\u2019 Secondary School.<\/p>\n
The Immersive Edutainment Tours are designed to build tourism awareness among\u00a0 young people by providing first-hand experiences within Grenada\u2019s tourism industry.<\/p>\n
The initiative also seeks to deepen students\u2019 understanding of the country\u2019s hotel and\u00a0 cruise sectors, as well as the role of agro-tourism and community tourism in national\u00a0 development. The programme was first introduced in March 2023, with its inaugural tour\u00a0 hosted at Fort Frederick.<\/p>\n
