\u00a0Deepening sustainable tourism frameworks.<\/p>\nGrenada has been named the \u201cPATWA International Travel Award\u201d 2026\u00a0\u00a0\u201cDestination of the Year\u2013Caribbean Experiences\u201d in the category of destinations, by the\u00a0Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA) International Travel Awards Council\u00a0\u00a0and its Board of Members.<\/p>\n
Grenada\u2019s Minister for Tourism, Creative Economy and Culture, Hon. Adrian Thomas,\u00a0\u00a0was also honoured, receiving the \u201cPATWA International Travel Award\u201d 2026 Tourism\u00a0\u00a0Minister of the Year for Sustainable Development in the category Excellence in\u00a0\u00a0Governance.<\/p>\n
CEO of the Grenada Tourism Authority, Ms. Stacey Liburd, was awarded the \u201cPATWA\u00a0International Travel Award\u201d 2026 PATWA Gold Award for Excellence in Destination\u00a0Development (The Caribbean) in the individual excellence category.<\/p>\n
The awards were conferred at the 26th and 2026 edition of the PATWA World Tourism\u00a0Leaders\u2019 Summit and the PATWA International Travel Awards at ITB, Berlin on March 4th,\u00a02026.<\/p>\n
They were handed over by the Secretary General of PATWA, Mr. Yatan Ahluwalia, along\u00a0with Hon. Edmund Bartlett, Minister for Tourism in Jamaica.<\/p>\n
Minister Thomas described the recognition as humbling, noting that it was being accepted\u00a0not as a personal accolade, but\u00a0\u201con behalf of the resilient people of Grenada,\u00a0<\/i><\/b>Carriacou and Petite Martinique \u2013 a tri-island state committed to shaping the future\u00a0<\/i><\/b>\u00a0<\/i><\/b>of tourism with courage, authenticity and sustainability.\u201d<\/i><\/b>\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n
Highlighting the importance of safety and stability in an increasingly uncertain global\u00a0environment, the Minister said the tri-island destination continues to be recognised\u00a0internationally as one of the safest places for travellers.<\/p>\n
He noted that institutions such as the United States Department of State, the UK Foreign,\u00a0Commonwealth & Development Office, and the World Travel & Tourism Council\u00a0\u00a0consistently acknowledge the strength of Grenada\u2019s governance, security environment\u00a0\u00a0and tourism management frameworks. \u201cBeyond the reports and advisories, what truly\u00a0<\/i><\/b>defines our safety is social cohesion \u2014 communities that care, citizens who<\/i><\/b>\u00a0<\/i><\/b>welcome, and a culture grounded in respect,\u201d\u00a0<\/i><\/b>Minister Thomas added.<\/p>\n
He also reaffirmed Grenada\u2019s commitment to advancing the tourism sector by:\u00a0\u00a0Deepening sustainable tourism frameworks.<\/p>\n

The 2026 PATWA World Tourism Leaders\u2019 Summit, themed \u201cThe Future of Tourism,\u201d\u00a0\u00a0preceded the awards ceremony at ITB Berlin on March 4, 2026.<\/p>\n
