Grenada’s Thornia Mitchell and Renisha Stafford delivered a standout regional performance to capture the women’s gold medal at the 2026 Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) Senior Beach Volleyball Championship, which concluded on Sunday at the Cul de Sac beach courts in Saint Lucia.

The Grenadian pair rose to the occasion over three days of high-intensity competition from May 1–3, battling through a strong field of teams from across the Eastern Caribbean before producing a championship-winning display in a dramatic final.

Mitchell and Stafford edged host nation Saint Lucia’s Clio Phillip and Tenayestlgni Joseph in a tightly contested three-set final, winning 2–1 (18–21, 21–19, 15–10). After dropping the opening set, the Grenadian duo responded with composure and improved consistency, leveling the match in a tense second set before pulling away in the decisive third.

Their ability to maintain control in key moments and execute under pressure proved the difference, as they secured Grenada’s place at the top of the women’s podium.

Saint Lucia’s Phillip and Joseph claimed the silver medal after a strong tournament run that saw them push the eventual champions to the limit in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.

The bronze medal went to Dominica’s Joyan Pascal and Adicia Burton, who defeated Saint Lucia’s Denila Prospere and Amalia Louis 2–1 (21–15, 20–22, 15–8) in another closely fought encounter. The Dominican pair started sharply, survived a second-set fightback, and dominated the tiebreak to secure a podium finish.

Grenada’s gold medal triumph marks a significant achievement for the island in regional beach volleyball, highlighting the continued rise of the sport across the Eastern Caribbean.
