Grenada\u2019s first self-sustaining rooms have opened at the True Blue Bay Boutique Resort.<\/p>\n
The 22 Cocoa Pod rooms are self-sustaining for water and electricity and are furnished using sustainable materials.<\/p>\n
Rainwater is harvested from the roof, stored in tanks and treated before being piped into the rooms and two new freshwater swimming pools.<\/p>\n
Solar panels are used to heat the water and to generate electricity.<\/p>\n
The use of insulation means that the rooms stay cooler and for those who want their rooms cooler, there are energy efficient air-conditioners.<\/p>\n
Efforts have also been made to make the interior environmentally friendly.<\/p>\n
Wherever possible sustainable materials, including ethical wood, have been used for the furniture and furnishings.<\/p>\n
Built in three blocks, the rooms are of the same spacious size and style of the resort\u2019s popular True Blue Bay Style rooms.<\/p>\n
There are 18 True Blue Style rooms and four two storey suites with at least three rooms being wheelchair accessible.<\/p>\n
The rooms have balconies or verandas with views of the tropical gardens or the bay as well as the two new plunge pools.<\/p>\n
A new pool bar makes the pools and white sand waterfront area with its swaying palm tree the ideal place to relax and enjoy a cocktail.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
