{"id":3400,"date":"2019-03-22T14:18:18","date_gmt":"2019-03-22T18:18:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/drealfmgrenada.com\/?p=3400"},"modified":"2019-03-22T14:18:18","modified_gmt":"2019-03-22T18:18:18","slug":"republic-banks-power-to-make-a-difference-programme-gets-grenada-swimming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/drealfmgrenada.com\/index.php\/2019\/03\/22\/republic-banks-power-to-make-a-difference-programme-gets-grenada-swimming\/","title":{"rendered":"Republic Bank\u2019s Power To Make A Difference Programme Gets Grenada Swimming"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Increasing the water safety skills of our citizens is a primary motivating factor behind Republic Bank\u2019s involvement with the National Learn-to-Swim week.<\/p>\n<p>Five years ago, Grenada Youth Adventurers led by Deb Eastwood, engaged Republic Bank to support the development of a national \u2018Learn-to-Swim Week\u2019 which has now expanded to 15 locations across Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique; benefitting an average of 600 persons annually. The goal is to teach a total of 8,000 persons to swim, over 5 years; the success rate so far, is approximately 2,800.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe unfortunate reality is that far too many of our citizens do not know how to swim\u201d, says GYA founder, Deb Eastwood. This realisation has led the GYA to develop a programme to incrementally increase the number of persons across Grenada, who can swim.<\/p>\n<p>Republic Bank\u2019s Power to Make a Difference programme has historically supported initiatives that positively impact the lives of our citizens.
