Barbados will be the home for the staging of the 2019 Central American &amp; Caribbean Amateur Swimming Confederation Championships (CCCAN) from June 28 \u2013 July 8, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The completion spans four aquatic disciplines for the competition which will be held as follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>SWIMMING:\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 June 28th \u2013 July 2, 2019<br \/>\nARTISTIC SWIMMING \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 June 24 \u2013 27, 2019<br \/>\nWATER POLO:\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0July 4 \u2013 8, 2019<br \/>\nOPEN WATER:\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0July 3 &amp; 5, 2019<\/p>\n<p>Grenada will be competing only in the swimming competition from June 28<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0to July 3<sup>rd<\/sup>\u00a02019 against over 28 teams from across the Caribbean &amp; Central America.\u00a0 The competition is projected to be a highly competitive championship among the federations that form the CCCAN body.<\/p>\n<p>The National team will include seasoned overseas-based swimmers Oreluwa Cherebin and Kerry Ollivierre. \u00a0\u00a0The full squad includes:<\/p>\n<p>Thabo Antoine\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Jenebi Benoit\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Anaika Charles<\/p>\n<p>Oreluwa Cherebin \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ariann Clouden\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Sara Dowden<\/p>\n<p>Zackary Gresham\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Delron Felix\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Nathan Fletcher<\/p>\n<p>Gabrielle Hyson\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Parshawn Haynes\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Kerry Ollivierre<\/p>\n<p>Meeka Ollivierre\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Eli Zerpa<\/p>\n<p>The 2019 CCCAN Championship marks the first appearance for 4 of the 14-member team; they include Sara Dowden, Nathan Fletcher, Nicholas John and Eli Zerpa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe CCCAN Championships is a significant event on the GASA annual swim calendar,\u201c states President of GASA, Peron Johnson.\u00a0 As a highly competitive and widely recognized Regional competition, CCCAN will provide a platform for senior swimmers Delron Felix and Kerry Olliverrier to attain qualifying times in their bid to secure a spot at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Additionally with the PANAM Games in Peru quickly approaching, CCCAN also serves as another qualifying opportunity to solidify participation at these Games.<\/p>\n<p>On the heals of CCCAN, Delron Felix, Kimberly Ince and Kerry Ollivierre will depart for Gwangju on the South Korean peninsula to compete at the FINA World Championship in mid July.\u00a0 Both Felix and Ince will continue on to the PANAM Games in Peru later in August, while Zackary Gresham, Jenebi Benoit and Anaika Charles will head to Budapest Hungry in August for the FINA World Junior Championships.<\/p>\n<p>July and August will be busy months for an increasing number of swimmers who are gaining additional opportunities to represent Grenada on the international stage.\u00a0 The Grenada Amateur Swimming Association is grateful for the support received from the Ministry of Sports, National Lottery Authority and the Grenada Olympic Committee in order to make it possible for the team to participate at the CCCAN Championship.<\/p>\n<p>The team departs the island on Thursday June 27<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0and swim off in the first event on Friday 28<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a02019.\u00a0 Head Coach Gerson Escobar assisted by Andrew Hopkin will accompany the team which will be managed by Chad Hyson, and GASA\u2019s President Peron Johnson will serve as head of delegation.
