Motorists in Grenada will have to think twice before drinking and driving as on December 16, the Royal Grenada Police Force plans to roll out the breathalyzer and enforce the country\u2019s DUI legislation.<\/p>\n
Grenada\u2019s government hopes this will reduce fatalities over the Christmas\u00a0period.<\/p>\n
Acting Police of Chief, Edvin\u00a0Martin, says the breathalyzer will finally empower officers with the authority to carry out testing on motorists suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol.<\/p>\n
Martin said: \u201cIt is my hope the implementation of the breathalyzer will act as a deterrent, changes attitudes on drinking and driving and improve road safety for pedestrians and motorists alike.\u201d<\/p>\n
The driving and drinking limit will be 70\u00a0microgrammes\u00a0per hundred millimeters of breath and anything over this threshold will become an offense.<\/p>\n
