CHARLOTTE, N.C. \u2014\u00a0<\/b>More than 100 people departed Saturday morning on the first flight from Charlotte to Grenada.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

American Airlines launched the service with Caribbean music and inaugural certificates. The plane also got a water cannon salute on the tarmac.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The new Charlotte flight will complement American Airlines\u2019 existing daily flights from Miami to the island.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very, very excited about this flight. We have more opportunities to leave and go straight home, and I think it will be exciting for other people to get the chance to learn about Grenada, to visit and not have to worry about catching the flights in between,\u201d said passenger Keisha Bridgman.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
