Although the Caribbean Region has been listed as low risk to the recent outbreak of China originated coronavirus, 2019-nCoV,\u00a0<\/span>Minister of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs & Local Government<\/span>, Hon. Kindra\u00a0<\/span>Maturine<\/span>-Stewart<\/span>\u00a0me<\/span>t<\/span>\u00a0with Health Professionals, Immigration<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>Police<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>Airport and Port Authority Representatives in Carriacou to best develop a contingency plan<\/span>\u00a0not only for the threats posed by the recent 2019-nCoV, but one that will safeguard the islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique<\/span>\u00a0from the future outbreaks<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The plan being developed entails Health Declaration and Probing Questionnaires, establishment of a quarantine and an isolation area, Heightened Surveillance and the operation of Handheld Thermometers at\u00a0<\/span>the island\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>ports of entry<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Minister of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, Hon. Kindra\u00a0<\/span>Maturine<\/span>-Stewart said that\u00a0<\/span>with\u00a0<\/span>Carriacou<\/span>\u00a0and Petite Martinique<\/span>\u00a0being\u00a0<\/span>directly\u00a0<\/span>connected to islands such as St. Vincent and the\u00a0<\/span>Grenadines<\/span>, measures must be put into place\u00a0<\/span>for the safety of citizens of Grenada on a whole<\/span>\u00a0from all place of entry<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She added that a<\/span>\u00a0similar meeting will take place on the island of Petite Martinique\u00a0<\/span>on Thursday evening to further discuss the plan with<\/span>\u00a0stakeholders and<\/span>\u00a0residence\u00a0<\/span>on the island.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
