(LOOP NEWS CARIBBEAN)- The Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) has responded to questions surrounding the July 2020 Examination results.<\/p>\n
In a brief statement, CXC stated:\u00a0\u201c. . .If there is a question about a grade and the candidate wishes to have a script re-examined, they may submit a request for a Review.<\/span><\/p>\n
\u201cFurther details can be found at\u00a0http:\/\/bit.ly\/cxc-queries<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
\u201cQueries and Reviews may be submitted through schools for in-school candidates or through the Ministry of Education for private candidates.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
CXC released the\u00a0results of the Caribbean Certificate of Secondary Level Competence\u00ae (CCSLC\u00ae), Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate\u00ae (CSEC\u00ae) examinations and Caribbean Advanced
\nProficiency Examination\u00ae (CAPE\u00ae) on Tuesday, September 22, at 5pm and 8pm.<\/p>\nBy nightfall a petition was circulating with candidates, parents and even teachers calling for a review of the grades on a grand scale.<\/p>\n
Some students indicated that they received an \u2018Absent\u2019 though they had slips to prove that they sat the particular subject paper. Many made this point in relation to CSEC Maths.<\/p>\n
With respect to the issue of receiving what they have deemed an \u201cunfair\u201d or \u201cincorrect\u201d\u00a0absent\u00a0and ungraded result, CXC stated:<\/p>\n
\u201cEach year, candidates may have questions regarding their results and CXC\u00ae has a long-established process in place for addressing these concerns.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to the CXC Query and Review Process, students must pay to have their grades reviewed:<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you have questions about an absent or ungraded result, you may submit a query. If you have questions about your grade and would like to have a script re-examined you may submit a request for a review. Queries are free and the cost per review is USD $30.00.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
CXC reminded candidates that \u201ca review of your script may result in your overall Grade either increasing, decreasing or remaining the same.\u00a0If your review results in an increase in your overall grade, you will be refunded the review fee.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Students have\u00a030 days to decide their next step. \u201cCandidates should note that the deadline for submission of Queries and Review requests is Friday, October 23, 2020.\u201d<\/p>\n
