Grenada\u2019s Prime Minister, Dr. the Right Honourable Keith Mitchell\u00a0\u00a0will lead the country\u2019s delegation attending the Thirty-Second Inter-Sessional Meeting of\u00a0\u00a0CARICOM Heads of Government, which will be held this week.<\/p>\n
The February 24-25 meeting will be held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister, Dr.\u00a0\u00a0Keith Rowley of Trinidad and Tobago.<\/p>\n
The other members of the Grenada delegation will include Minister for Foreign Affairs and\u00a0\u00a0CARICOM Affairs, Honourable Oliver Joseph, Health Minister, Honourable Nickolas\u00a0\u00a0Steele and Grenada\u2019s Ambassador to CARICOM, His Excellency Arley Gill.<\/p>\n
Several critical matters are on the agenda for the two-day meeting, including the roll-out\u00a0\u00a0of COVID-19 Vaccines.<\/p>\n
According to the CARICOM Secretariat, \u201cAccess to vaccines is regarded as crucial to\u00a0\u00a0curbing the spread of COVID-19 infections in the region where many member states have\u00a0\u00a0experienced increases in positive cases. The Caribbean Public Health Agency\u00a0\u00a0(CARPHA) and the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) are expected to address\u00a0\u00a0the Heads on the pandemic. There will also be discussion on regional economic recovery\u00a0\u00a0and transformation.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dr. Mitchell and his CARICOM colleagues are also set to \u201cexamine the status of\u00a0\u00a0implementation of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME), and any\u00a0\u00a0outstanding issues which need to be resolved to ensure that full benefits from the CSME\u00a0\u00a0are realised. The CSME is regarded as critical to the region\u2019s strategy to build economic\u00a0\u00a0resilience, and it is felt that the COVID-19 pandemic has reinforced the need to accelerate\u00a0\u00a0the pace of the integration process.\u201d<\/p>\n
