Amicable discussions were held on Tuesday, as the\u00a0Minister for Labour, Honourable Peter David, continued mediation in the ongoing dispute\u00a0over the 4% salary increase due to teachers and public officers for 2021.<\/p>\n
The Minister, in his capacity as mediator, held joint talks with representatives of the\u00a0Government\u2019s Negotiating Team and the Grenada Union of Teachers. This came about\u00a0after separate meetings with each party over the last two weeks.<\/p>\n
Giving an overview of the positions of both parties, Minister David said, \u201cBoth sides have\u00a0indicated a clear desire to resolve the matter.\u201d<\/p>\n
At Tuesday\u2019s meeting, proposals were tabled by both sides for consideration. The talks\u00a0were amicable and focused on bringing the parties closer to a compromise.<\/p>\n
The Minister for Labour will convene a second meeting with both parties early next week\u00a0to review the responses to the proposals tabled at Tuesday\u2019s meeting.<\/p>\n
