GEORGETOWN \u2013 CARICOM said on Tuesday it continues to support a two-state solution as \u201cthe best way\u201d to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.<\/p>\n
In a brief media statement on the issue, the regional integration organisation added its voice to individuals and groups around the world pressing for an end to the violence.<\/p>\n
\u201cCARICOM is gravely concerned by the recent escalation in violence between the Israelis and the Palestinians,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n
\u201cCARICOM joins the international community in calling for an immediate ceasefire and end to hostilities.<\/p>\n

\u201cCARICOM continues to support the United Nations\u2019 efforts towards a two-state solution as the best way forward.\u201d<\/p>\n
More than 200 Palestinians, including children, have been killed and an excess of 1 500 others injured in Israeli airstrikes since May 10.<\/p>\n
The latest outbreak of violence began in east Jerusalem last month, after an Israeli court ordered the evictions of Palestinian families in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood of East Jerusalem.<\/p>\n
