Chelsea Football Club Scout, Angus Douglas, was the special guest at the Grenada\u00a0 Football Association\u2019s (GFA) National Parish U13 Boys\u2019 Tournament matches held at Belle Vue Playing\u00a0 Field, St. David, on Saturday August 14.<\/p>\n
Douglas says he will be working along with the GFA in creating opportunities for the young players\u2019\u00a0 development. \u201cMy purpose is to put together a scouting network for the GFA from the grassroots level\u00a0 mirroring what we do in the UK with Chelsea Football Club. From as young as eight (8) up to about 17, we\u00a0 will create a scouting pathway and build profiles for boys and girls so that they can aspire to play for the\u00a0 National Team and make it the best in can be.\u201d<\/p>\n
Douglas says ultimately, \u201cthere could be opportunities for players to get scholarships to the UK and\u00a0 Europe.\u201d He further stated that he is impressed with the talent he saw displayed at Belle Vue.<\/p>\n
\u201cFantastic array of talent on show today. I came in 2020 just before COVID and the change that I have seen\u00a0 in this new competition, I\u2019ve been really impressed by it\u201d, said Douglas.<\/p>\n
In match 1, St. Andrew Big Parish Stars was handed their first loss in the tournament by St. Mark Western\u00a0 Stars 3-2. Denic Charles scored for Western Stars in the 4th\u00a0and 19th\u00a0minutes, while Tyler Charles followed\u00a0 in the 21st\u00a0minute. Delron John, who has scored in every round thus far, converted for the Big Parish Stars\u00a0 in the 16th\u00a0and 57th\u00a0minutes.<\/p>\n
In match 2, St. George Royal Cannons and St. Patrick Crown City Strikers played a closely contested match\u00a0 which ended 4-3 in favour of the latter. Royal Cannons Jahim Fletcher added to his list of goals scoring in\u00a0 the 23rd\u00a0and 57th\u00a0minutes, while Sayon Burris found the net in the 60th\u00a0minute. For Crown City Strikers\u00a0 Yazid Ferguson scored in the 13th\u00a0and 33rd\u00a0minutes while Nathan McIntosh converted in the 10th\u00a0minute.\u00a0 Amos Derrick added a 4th\u00a0goal in the 17th\u00a0minute.<\/p>\n
In the final match of the day, St. John Dolphins continued their winning ways beating St. David Top Strikers\u00a0 6-2. Goals came from Kerroni Francis (16th\u00a0minute), Izion Fraser (22nd\u00a0minute), Omar McSween (45th\u00a0and\u00a0 51st\u00a0minutes) and Amelio Stanisclaus (49th\u00a0minute) for the Dolphins. An own goal from Top Strikers Keston\u00a0 Bailey in the 48th\u00a0minute sealed the match. Rohan Moses added another goal to his tally by scoring in the\u00a0 23rd\u00a0minute and Ruel Hypolite added a goal for Top Strikers in the 35th\u00a0minute.<\/p>\n
Round 5 and the final round of matches in the inaugural National Parish Boys\u2019 U13 Tournament, will be\u00a0 held on Saturday, August 21 at Queen\u2019s Park Ground 2, St. George.
