With the recent surge of positive COVID-19 cases in Grenada, the COVID-19 Response Team in Carriacou and Petite Martinique,\u00a0together with the Ministry of Health,\u00a0is moving to\u00a0heighten its\u00a0awareness and\u00a0vaccination\u00a0drive\u00a0throughout various communities\u00a0and\u00a0reinforce measures\u00a0to safeguard against the potential spread of the virus on the islands.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Minister\u00a0of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, Hon. Kindra\u00a0Maturine\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Stewart,\u00a0in an interview said\u00a0that on Wednesday, Carriacou\u2019s first\u00a0quota\u00a0of the\u00a0Food and Drug Administration\u00a0(FDA) approved Pfizer Vaccine\u00a0will arrive on island and made available to\u00a0children\u00a012 years and over\u00a0on Thursday, 26\u00a0<\/span>August,<\/span>\u00a02021\u00a0<\/span>from 9:00 a.m. \u2013 2:00 p.m.,\u00a0<\/span>at\u00a0the Hillsborough Tennis Court.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Minister Stewart\u00a0added\u00a0that in the absence of a total lockdown,\u00a0Government is unable to regulate\u00a0inter-island travel between Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, but will engage the\u00a0relevant stakeholders to ensure\u00a0protocols are maintained.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She noted that in the coming days a series of community\u00a0sensitisation and vaccination initiatives will begin and urged persons to\u00a0adhere to the protocols\u00a0and most importantly, to\u00a0get vaccinated as\u00a0for the unvaccinated are now those most at risk.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Community\u00a0Health\u00a0Nurse for Carriacou and Petite Martinique, Mrs.\u00a0Donette\u00a0St.\u00a0Bernard, disclosed\u00a0that numerous persons\u00a0in Carriacou\u00a0and Petite Martinique have been coming forward to be vaccinated and\u00a0requests for the Pfizer vaccine\u00a0has been overwhelming in the last 24 hours.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

St. Bernard further encouraged\u00a0everyone to get vaccinated as\u00a0global\u00a0statistics show\u00a0a decline in COVID-19 related deaths\u00a0as\u00a0vaccination\u00a0increases.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
