After the announcement last week that The Grenada Chocolate Company won three awards at the Academy of Chocolate awards in London. The company has followed up that success again this week with their 71% Dark Chocolate bar and 100% Dark Chocolate bars, being awarded 1-star awards<\/strong> by Great Taste, the largest and most trusted food and drink awards on the planet. Out of 5,383 products worldwide to receive a Great Taste 1-star accolade on Tuesday 21 September, The Grenada Chocolate Company will now be able to display the unmistakable black and gold logo, a stamp of excellence that is recognised by retailers and consumers alike.<\/p>\n

SOME OF THE JUDGES\u2019 COMMENTS:<\/p>\n

71% DARK CHOCOLATE<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThis chocolate is very well presented and it has a lovely aroma. The flavours are fruity, a little toasty, pleasantly sweet and we really enjoyed this. The acidity is pleasing and we enjoyed the long finish\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

100% DARK CHOCOLATE<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cGood looking chocolate with a great snap. We like the design and the shine! This has fruity notes on the nose. The bite of the chocolate is good and yet it melts in the mouth well with a surprisingly creamy texture. There are acidic notes with balanced sharpness and acidity. We like the fruity, tannic nature of this bar and we think it is incredibly well made\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The Grenada Chocolate Company founded by Mott Green was the first ever tree-to-bar chocolate factory on the island, founded in 1999. After the untimely death of Mr Green in 2013, the company continues to expand his legacy under the guidance of co-founder Edmond Brown. The co-operative now has over 200 acres of organic cocoa farms and the chief objective is ensuring that farmers are fairly rewarded for their hard work and that cocoa farming and chocolate production use sustainable methods.<\/p>\n
