St George\u2019s<\/strong>: A request, from nurses at the\u00a0Gouyave Health Centre (GHC) in St John for\u00a0pulse oximeters, has been met by Grenada\u2019s Ambassador to CARICOM, Arley Gill.<\/p>\n

Gill, a St John native and lawyer, recently delivered a package of supplies to the centre, which also serves the Parish of St Mark. The package included 25 oximeters, as well as other items such as N95 masks, face shields and sanitizer.<\/p>\n

An oximeter, a device that is usually placed on a fingertip, estimates oxygen levels in the blood. There has been increased demand for the device in treating patients infected with the Coronavirus.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe idea of the oximeter is that every nurse will have their personal device,\u2019\u2019 Gill said.<\/p>\n

The request to Gill for the oximeters was presented in early October when he visited the GHC to make an initial donation of\u00a0personal protective equipment and<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>medical devices. At the time,<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>he committed himself to continue supporting, in whatever way possible, the healthcare work of the GHC.<\/p>\n

At the second recent presentation to the nurses,\u00a0he told them he was able to secure the requested 25 pulse oximeters \u201cwith the assistance of some very good Grenadians in New York. I must give special mention to Nurse Addis Alexander, Nurse Denise Romney-Adams, Mr Sekou Johnson and Bonan Gill\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n

The nurses working at the Gouyave Health Centre, said Gill, \u201ccontinue to be on the frontline. You continue to serve our people, putting yourself in danger. And, the least we can do, is to assist you in ensuring that you are protecting yourself and your family\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n

At a separate meeting with St Andrew North-West MP Delma Thomas, the minister responsible for Hospital and Community Health Services,\u00a0Gill also made a donation of supplies. It\u2019s for the\u00a0Paraclete Medical Centre.<\/p>\n
