The lighting of the Hillsborough Playing Field in Carriacou was officially commissioned\u00a0on Friday, 12 November becoming the second lit sporting field facility on the island.<\/p>\n

This gesture forms part of Government\u2019s commitment to the development of young people and sports in Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.<\/p>\n

In speaking at the commission ceremony, Minister of Carriacou and Petite Martinique\u00a0Affairs\u00a0& Local Government Hon. Kindra\u00a0Maturine-Stewart, said\u00a0that the project is a testimony of what can be achieved through partnership of Government, community and stakeholders and\u00a0extended\u00a0gratitude\u00a0to the National Lottery Authority (NLA), the Chinese Embassy in Grenada and Grenlec for\u00a0their\u00a0partnership\u00a0in bringing the\u00a0project to\u00a0fruition.<\/p>\n

She added that as\u00a0a\u00a0continuation of Government\u2019s commitment towards\u00a0the development of\u00a0young people in Carriacou and Petite Martinique, an\u00a0additional\u00a02 playing fields,\u00a0the Petite Martinique and Harvey Vale playing fields,\u00a0will be lit\u00a0to further expand\u00a0on\u00a0the\u00a0investment\u00a0in 2022.<\/p>\n

Representing\u00a0the National Lottery Authority, Richard Roberts, said that the NLA continues to ensure that Carriacou and Petite Martinique\u00a0receives\u00a0its\u00a0fair share\u00a0of support through sponsorships and community partnerships\u00a0and saw it fitting to get onboard with the project.<\/p>\n

Also speaking at the commission ceremony was Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs Rholda\u00a0Quamina,\u00a0who\u00a0believes\u00a0that the project will add\u00a0revenue\u00a0in the\u00a0town of\u00a0Hillsborough.<\/p>\n
