Seventy-seven Grenadians are now recipients\u00a0 of scholarships awards to pursue studies locally and internationally, following a virtual award\u00a0 ceremony on November 30, 2021.<\/p>\n
Thirty-five students\u00a0<\/b>were awarded\u00a0undergraduate scholarships for study in the field of arts\u00a0 and science at St. George\u2019s University<\/b>, in areas such as accounting and finance, biology, business\u00a0 management, information technology, international business, management, marine wildlife\u00a0 conservation, psychology, sociology and tourism and hospitality management.<\/p>\n
There were also\u00a016 SGU graduate awards\u00a0<\/b>in the fields of clinical community psychology,\u00a0 education, international business, multi-sector health management and public health. Scholarships\u00a0 awarded for study at SGU are valued at a total cost of\u00a0$10, 036, 795.00.\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
Colin Dowe, Associate Dean of Admissions at SGU, wished all recipients the best in their study\u00a0 and encouraged them to contribute to nation building.<\/p>\n
The People\u2019s Republic of China\u00a0<\/b>awarded\u00a0seven undergraduate scholarships\u00a0<\/b>in the areas of fine\u00a0 arts; engineering in the fields of architecture, geomatics engineering and energy and power\u00a0 engineering; marketing; psychology and medicine, specifically physical therapy and rehabilitation.\u00a0Two awards\u00a0<\/b>were also presented for\u00a0medical specialization\u00a0<\/b>in the field of internal medicine.<\/p>\n
All scholarships from the People\u2019s Republic of China are valued at\u00a0EC $2, 067, 450.75<\/b>.<\/p>\n
His Excellency, Ambassador Wei Hongtian, who shared that 36 years ago he was a scholarship\u00a0 awardee studying in Africa, said, \u201cToday, I would like to confirm that the Chinese Government\u00a0 Scholarship Program will continue to offer 15 full scholarships to Grenadian students in 2022. In\u00a0 fact, actual offers of scholarships by China are more than the announced figures. It is my sincere\u00a0 hope that more Grenadian candidates will be qualified for furthering their studies in China.\u201d<\/p>\n
He encouraged all the awardees to treasure the opportunity, study hard and achieve academic\u00a0 excellence to further the development of Grenada.<\/p>\n
There were also\u00a012 economic cost bursary awards in the sum\u00a0<\/b>of\u00a0EC $191, 977\u00a0<\/b>presented to\u00a0 students pursuing studies at the\u00a0University of the West Indies<\/b>, in the fields of accounting,\u00a0 biochemistry, chemistry, civil with environmental engineering, diagnostic imaging, exercise sports\u00a0 science, literatures in English, mathematics, political science, psychology and sociology.<\/p>\n
Three students\u00a0<\/b>were awarded\u00a0undergraduate scholarships valued at EC $689, 150.25 to\u00a0 pursue studies in Romania\u00a0<\/b>in the areas of economics and international affairs, psychology and\u00a0 informatics (computer science).<\/p>\n
Additionally, the\u00a0Organization of American States\u00a0<\/b>presented\u00a0two scholarships, valued at EC\u00a0 $108, 102,\u00a0<\/b>in the areas of welding and fabrication and hospitality management.<\/p>\n
