The Grenada Football Association (GFA) is returning to local\u00a0 competition for the first time in weeks with a Women\u2019s 11V11 Festival which takes place on\u00a0 December 4 and 11 at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium. Five teams are participating in the\u00a0 round robin competition playing 60-minute matches.<\/p>\n
The teams are Queen\u2019s Park Rangers, Paradise FCI, Boca Juniors, the National U17 Women\u2019s\u00a0 team and the St. Mark\u2019s Super Strikers. Boca Juniors, Paradise FCI and Queen\u2019s Park Rangers\u00a0 were the top three teams in the 7V7 Women\u2019s League held earlier this year.<\/p>\n
The festival represents the continued investment by the GFA in women\u2019s football following the\u00a0 7V7 tournament which saw participation from 9 teams. GFA President Cheney Joseph indicated\u00a0 earlier this year that the organization will create more competitive matches for women looking\u00a0 forward to reaching the U13 and U10 levels.<\/p>\n
Looking ahead to the 11V11 Festival GFA Women\u2019s Football Representative Renae Samuel\u00a0 said, \u201cPlayers have shown their keen interest in getting back to play and the tournament\u00a0 represents an opportunity for them to play the full field, which was feedback the FA took on\u00a0 board from the last competition.\u201d<\/p>\n
