Ten young\u00a0fishers\u00a0in Carriacou benefitted from\u00a0a two-day\u00a0business management\u00a0workshop facilitated by the\u00a0<\/span>Climate Change Adaptation in the Eastern Caribbean Fisheries Sector<\/span>\u00a0Project (CC4FISH).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The training\u00a0was\u00a0in keeping with the\u00a0<\/span>Food and Agriculture Organization<\/span>\u00a0(FAO)\u00a0funded\u00a0CC4FISH\u00a0Project agenda\u00a0to<\/span>\u00a0improve resilience among fisherfolk in Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, through\u00a0capacity\u00a0building.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

National Coordinator for the CC4FISH Project, Krisma Moore, said\u00a0the\u00a0training was designed to build the\u00a0capacity\u00a0of fisherfolks\u00a0in Carriacou\u00a0in business management\u00a0and\u00a0participants\u00a0also\u00a0looked\u00a0at\u00a0finance management, record-keeping,\u00a0business structuring and accessing\u00a0loans\u00a0and grants.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She added that\u00a0although a small\u00a0number of fisherfolks\u00a0in Carriacou was\u00a0met through the\u00a0exercise, the idea was\u00a0to ensure that learning was taking place while\u00a0following COVID-19 protocols.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The training was\u00a0facilitated\u00a0by Business Skills Expert and Trainer, Elsa Baptiste.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Fisheries Officer in the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs & Local Government, Mr. Junior Mc Donald, commended the FAO\u00a0for\u00a0initiating\u00a0the training\u00a0which\u00a0he believes will enhance\u00a0the business of fishing in Carriacou.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He noted that the Ministry\u00a0of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs & Local Government sees\u00a0fishing as\u00a0a critical sector for the sister islands\u00a0and it will continue to invest in the holistic development of\u00a0the sector.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
