A meeting of the Carriacou Regatta Festival Committee was held on Monday, August 20, 2018, at which time the agenda included a review of the 2018 Carriacou Regatta Festival events and the election of a new Committee.
The goal of the election was to enhance the Committee with diversity, transparency and creativity. A definite new energy has been introduced by this group with the addition of seasoned, well respected sailors, young professional women, a young Carriacou Sloop captain, returning committed Committee members and a cross section of Carriacou residents.
This dynamic team will be led by the energetic Carriacou entrepreneur, Allison Caton, as Chairperson. Under her leadership, the new Committee is challenged to re-brand the Festival, continuing to focus on the seafaring heritage of the island, attracting more regional boatmen and spectators alike.
The newly elected Committee is as follows:
Allison Caton, Chairman
Leandra Williams-Stiell, Vice Chairman
Ken Joseph, Treasurer
Theo Jerome, Assistant Treasurer
Nordia Patrice, Secretary
Dunason Compton, Assistant Secretary
Susan Valentine, Public Relations Officer/Marketing
Felix Mendes, Liaison to the Ministry for Carriacou & Petite Martinique
FLOOR MEMBERS
Leo Joseph
Clarence McFarlane
Shirley Cox-Sylvester

Miss Caton emphasized that “The regatta must experience a Renaissance. 2019 is the year that the Carriacou Regatta Festival Committee must bring the next level of racing competition and on-land entertainment to this very important celebration of Carriacou Heritage!”
The new Committee is presently preparing a report on the Carriacou Regatta Festival 2018 which will be released shortly. In addition, the first 2019 Festival planning session has been scheduled for October.
