SGU Alumnus Dr. Dwight Matthias Donates Technology to General Hospital

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, The Grenada COVID Crisis Group (GCCG), led by SGU graduates Michele Friday, MD ’88, Dwight Matthias, MD ’92, and Lisa Radix, MD ’97, spearheaded a campaign—facilitating in-person and online patient care and crowdvsourcing both funds and supplies that will help healthcare workers on the ground treat those who have contracted the virus.

Grenada-born SGU alumnus Dr. Dwight Matthias, raised in Belmont, St. George’s, recently returned to Grenada and donated laptops and iPads to the General Hospital as part of his ongoing commitment to improving healthcare in Grenada.

“Graduate contributions in collaboration with health officials in Grenada continue to be a part of a greater effort from the entire SGU community”, said Brendon La Grenade, Vice Provost, St. George’s University.

“Any input I can provide through education, equipment, offering services, and hosting workshops I believe would be very beneficial to advancing diabetes care on the island,” said Dr. Matthias. “There’s a passion in me to give back and to empower both physicians and patients when sorting through the different treatment opportunities available today. Also, Grenada is a beautiful place to spend a week or two doing what I love.
